Welcome to our Health and Safety - Home Working Assessments page. Here, you'll find information to fulfil your duties in providing your employees with a safe home working area that is, conducive to ensuring they can provide the service you require of them.

Our home working assessments conducted by our NEBOSH and IOSH Certified Consultant are designed to help identify potential hazards and make the necessary (and reasonable) adjustments to create a safe home working environment. We also ensure the employee understands their health and safety responsibilities to you as their employer.

What is a Home Working Assessment?

This covers the reasons for the assessment, a look at the work space, a discussion with the employee about the correct setup of office equipment and, safe working at home. We also cover the basics of remote working.

Subject to your agreement (and budgets) we can recommend any equipment the employee needs to work safely (e.g an ergonomic office chair).

Why Are Assessments Important?

This assessment conducted by our NEBOSH and IOSH Certified Consultant ensures you as a business have complied with your Health and Safety requirements. If you allow remote home working, you should ensure (as far as is practicable) a safe working environment within the home.

We also undertake in office assessments for those that do not work from home.

What we do

• We book a virtual meeting with your employee.

• We remotely view the working area and the surrounding area.

• We check the equipment is setup in the interest of the user.

• We use a checklist to ask the user questions about, ergonomics, electrical safety, lighting, desk, chair, screens, keyboard, mouse etc. This report is sent to you as the employer.

• We provide the user with suggestions to improve their working area and comfort whilst working at home.

Home Working Assessment are billed at £79 per hour (in 6 minute blocks rounded up).

Our Services to you

Once we have completed the assessment of the user, we provide you with a comprehensive report regarding the users setup at home and, any equipment requirements they may have or need (subject to what you agree you will provide). We recommend any adjustments that will make the user more comfortable and hopefully more productive to your business.

We can provide links to a supplier for the equipment (we have no commercial external supplier arrangements), we provide links only to the suitable equipment at the best price we can find – you are always welcome to source the equipment through your suppliers.

A:  Firstly and most importantly, we have a discussion with you the employer.  We need to understand the support you are willing to provide (e.g you supply chairs, screens etc) what your DSE Policy is – you provide £xx towards an eye test and £xx towards the cost of DSE glasses.  Once we have this and a contract for services, you provide the employee details, we will approach your employee direct (copying you in so the employee can see you have tasked us).  We book the assessment and, send you the report and recommendations.

A:  No, we will conduct your assessments using our time recording system at a rate of £79 (plus VAT per hour).

A:  If we have a commercial arrangement, the cost of the assessment will be within our agreement.

A:  We recommend the employee changes the manner in which they are working (as constructively as we can), we also inform you as a matter or urgency and, we work with you (and the user) to achieve a satisfactory outcome.
